Our Labor Induction massage is a 90 minute face down massage. Our prenatal massage table has removable belly and breast inserts so our patients can comfortably lie face down during the massage. The labor induction massage should be performed in pregnant patients 38 weeks or more who are wanting to start the labor process naturally. This massage can be performed in patients under 38 weeks on patients who have been told by their medical provider that they must have a c-section or induction before 38 weeks due to a medical necessity. This massage should be performed 48 hours before the scheduled induction date to allow enough time for the acupressure and relaxation techniques to naturally start labor. Doing a labor induction massage can help provide pain relief, reduce the amount of time spent in labor, and reduce stress before labor. induction massage can offer certain benefits during the late stages of pregnancy, with a particular focus on potentially encouraging labor to start naturally. Here are some potential benefits and acupressure points that are commonly associated with labor induction massage:

Potential Benefits:

1. Relaxation: One of the primary benefits of labor induction massage is relaxation. It can help reduce stress, ease tension, and promote a sense of calm, which can be especially valuable as you approach your due date.

2. Pain Relief: Massage can help alleviate common pregnancy-related discomforts, such as back pain, rib pain, shoulder pain, sciatica pain, hip pain and much more.

3. Improved Circulation: Massage may enhance blood flow and lymphatic circulation, which can help reduce swelling and discomfort in the extremities.

4. Emotional Support: The emotional benefits of massage, such as feeling cared for and supported, can be significant during this stage of pregnancy.

5. Stress Reduction: Reducing stress and promoting relaxation may indirectly support the onset of labor, as high levels of stress can potentially delay labor. Stress and anxiety can trigger the sympathetic nervous system to become more active which can delay the onset of labor. Our massage focuses on relaxation techniques to instead stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system which not only can start the labor processes but also help create a smoother, less painful labor.

Acupressure Points:

Acupressure involves applying pressure to specific points on the body to promote various health benefits. Here are some acupressure points commonly associated with labor induction:

1. Spleen 6 (SP6): Located above the ankle, about four fingers above the ankle bone, on the inside of the lower leg. It's believed to help stimulate the uterus and promote contractions.

2. Bladder 60 (BL60): Situated on the back of the ankle, just below the ankle bone, it's thought to help initiate labor and alleviate pain.

3. Large Intestine 4 (LI4): Located between the thumb and index finger, this point is believed to stimulate contractions and ease labor pain.

4. Gallbladder 21 (GB21): Found on the shoulder, about halfway between the base of the neck and the end of the shoulder, it's believed to help relax and encourage cervical dilation.

5. Bladder 32 (UB32): Bladder 32 is located between the lower back dimples and the lumbar spine. It is believed to help induce labor contractions, help the cervix dilate and the baby descend the birth canal.
